And, she feels her art has been influenced by the Oriental background of her early years.

After formal education at the California College of Arts and Crafts and San Francisco State College, she taught school for thirty years. When retiring from teaching she attended art classes in the Southern California area. She has participated in numerous workshops led by the master watercolorists such as Timothy Clark, Harvey Clemans, Linda Moyer, Don O'Neill, and Carolyn Lord. Working primarily with watercolor media, she has developed a unique style of painting emphasizing pattern shape and intensity of color. Lawson's paintings have been juried into national watercolor society shows across the country. She has signature membership in six of these societies. She also served on the Board of Directors for the Watercolor West Society for six years. Her paintings are in private and corporate collections in California, Hawaii, Virginia, and other states. She also has her work in collections in Germany, France, and Japan.

She is exhibiting at the Orange County Fine Art's Showcase Gallery at South Coast Plaza Village, 3851 S. Bear Street, at Sunflower, Santa Ana, California.
