Artist Statement:

My work primarily consists of acrylic paintings on canvas, but I also create with colored pencils on paper. I gain inspiration from both ordinary objects around us and fascinating scenes of far-away places.  Variety is important in my choices of subject matters. I see the beauty of nature in landscapes, the harmony of different objects placed one next to each other in still life, and the wonders of shapes and emotions in figures.

Artist Statement Continued:

I am absorbing these visual miracles surrounding me and trying to express them in my own creative way.  Through the use of expressive, vibrant colors, I compose my observations and experiences into simplified, yet stylized shapes and forms. My art can be best described as contemporary, half abstraction/ half-realism.  In a world that is becoming more and more connected, I am interested in how the relevant moments in my life form connections with others. I hope my art creates excitement and pleasure for them, enriching their lives a little bit.

Artist Bio:

Born in Seoul, Korea, I have lived in various cities around the world, including Chicago, Winona (MN), New York City, Bonn (Germany), and Vancouver (Canada). I currently reside in Newport Coast, CA with my husband and son. I graduated with a B.A. in fine art and business management from the College of Saint Teresa, Minnesota. Prior to resuming my art career in the recent years, I had worked as an analyst in the banking industry for 15 years. My affiliation includes Orange County Fine Arts (OCFA), International Society of Acrylic Painters and Federation of Canadian Artists (2001-2004).
