Dr. Z has studied with Diane Walling and Roger Armstrong at the Irvine Fine Arts Center. He has also taken workshops with Frank Webb, Karen Frey and Eric Weigart.

Dr. Z. has had pictures accepted in juried shows at IFAC, Tustin Senior Center, Show Case Gallery, Irvine Valley College, and several restaurants. A picture received an award at the last JCC Art Show. In 2002 and 2003 he had pictures accepted at the Orange County Fair. Individuals for their homes in New Jersey, La Jolla, Chicago, Newport Beach and Paris France own his watercolors . In addition several are in corporate collections.

His interest in watercolors is the spontaneity of the medium compared to oils or acrylics. Happy accidents are the reason two "identical" pictures retain their individuality.

In his many years as a scientist, "I think science has an intrinsic beauty and requires tremendous creativity. A beautiful piece of research - one which goes smoothly, when all the pieces fall into place - stirs the same feelings as a beautiful art piece."

As an artist, he tries to convey his feelings to the viewers, through his paintings.
